how did it come to this?
My Public Apology to Christina Aguilera..., November 6, 2002
Reviewer: faerie2332 from Southern California, United States
OK here goes...I'll admit it...I was a card-carrying, dues-paying member of the We-Hate-Christina-Aguilera Club. I thought she was just another one of those ... teen acts with no talent. So I heard her sing "Beautiful" all live and acoustic-y on MTV and I found myself digging on it in spite of myself. So I bought the record. OH MY [goodness]!! So here goes...words I never thought I'd say: CHRISTINA ROCKS!! Now I have a pretty eclectic taste in music but I NEVER thought I'd be wowed by someone who was once considered a "pop princess." I mean, Jane's Addiction, Tool, Pearl Jam, DMX and yes, Eminem, are among my favorite acts so this is not coming from someone who generally digs on the lighter side of pop.
Christina Aguilera is a talent; a huge, beautiful voice and, surprisingly, a mature and thoughtful artist. So I don't care who you are or what you normally listen to, if you like good music, BUY THIS RECORD, BUY THIS RECORD, BUY THIS RECORD!! Really!! You won't be disappointed, I promise, and this is coming from one of the most jaded, 25-year-old, music fans you'll ever meet in your life.
My favorite highlights of the album are: "Fighter" (Dave Navarro on guitar, YAY!), "Beautiful," "Make Over," "Soar," "I'm OK," and "Singing My Song." But really, all the tracks are awesome and for those of you who have only heard the single "Dirrty" it is so NOT indicative of the rest of the record. Which isn't to say I don't like the track, it's ... fun to get down to, but there's so many other facets to this record you really have to listen to the whole thing.
So in closing, I take back anything bad I ever had to say about this amazing artist and tell everyone to buy it and crank it up!!
I was surfin 'round amazon when i saw this review. Amazing isn't it? Just wanted to show out of the goodness of my heart. Serious.
